Regulations for the use of personal data by the CBG|Center for family history
dated 15 September 2020
Website visit
The CBG stores data of website visitors and places cookies for the proper functioning of the websites. It does not use tracking cookies or similar tracking technologies.
For anonymous visitors, the CBG only stores data such as IP addresses, time and information requested, for the purposes of generating statistics via Google Analytics. The data are anonymized. In doing so, the CBG has taken the measures recommended by the Dutch Data Protection Authority to prevent Google from using this information for its own purposes.
These data are processed for the CBG's own legitimate interest and are retained in order to generate effective statistics over a sufficiently long period of time.
Account holders
All data entered by visitors with an account will be stored, including for the purposes of purchasing a subscription. For the purposes of administration, these data include name and address details, bank account number and email address, as well as non-compulsory matters such as telephone number and sex, in so far as they have been entered. This information is accessible to and can be altered by the users themselves.
The login on the website is arranged via a username and a password.
The CBG will only use these personal data for administrative purposes and will not provide them to third parties. This use is intended to provide the agreed services. The data will be retained during the term of the services, after which they will only be retained to the extent required by law.
Newsletter
The user may agree separately to enter into a subscription to a digital newsletter. This subscription can be terminated at any time. The data from this newsletter subscription will be deleted as soon as the subscription is discontinued.
Security
The CBG is making efforts to protect the registered data against use by unauthorised persons, including through internal security procedures and access control (of rooms, computers as well as software).
Access to and alteration of your data
You have the right to access or alter personal data used by us or to have them deleted. You may submit this request in writing, via letter or by email. Data may only be rectified and altered in case of obvious errors or outdated information. Deletion of data is only possible if there are no legal restrictions against doing so.
With specific regard to the rectification or deletion of personal data from archival material (‘source material’), we request that you ask for this deletion in an email to privacy@cbg.nl. The same applies to personal data of individuals who have a family relation with you. While the CBG may refuse the deletion or rectification of data, it is obliged to substantiate this fact in writing.
In the interest of preventing a deletion request from being misused, we request that you provide proper identification. We ask you to indicate as specifically as possible which data must be deleted.
Data Protection Officer
The CBG has appointed a Data Protection Officer who will deal with any complaints about the misuse of personal data. This officer is registered with the Dutch Data Protection Authority under number FG009858. The officer can be contacted through the general CBG contact points and at the email address privacy@cbg.nl.
Dutch Data Protection Authority
We are of course happy to assist you with any complaints about the processing of your personal data. Under the General Data Protection Regulation (‘privacy legislation’), you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority against the processing of your personal data if you believe that we have not dealt with your request correctly. You may contact the Dutch Data Protection Authority for this purpose.
